Specialist Wood Floor Restoration and Repair

Wood floor restoration and wood floor repairs are specialist services which Focus Flooring offer.

We believe our expertise and knowledge in wood floor restoration and wood floor repairs sets us apart from other floor sanding companies.

Pine Wooden Floor Restoration

Professional pine wood floor restoration can involve replacing of boards with reclaimed boards to re create the original look.

Original boards get damaged by plumbers, electricians, house alterations or general wear and tear. Wood wormed boards, boards with cuts in and new pine boards can all be replaced. It is essential that only reclaimed floor boards are used to sympathetically restore your wooden floor.

We can also replace whole rooms with reclaimed floor boards, and even lay reclaimed floor boards in extensions.

Parquet Flooring Restoration

High quality parquet flooring restoration will involve fixing down/gluing of existing blocks, screeding, supplying and fitting of reclaimed blocks for areas where the original blocks have been removed or damaged.

If no necessary wooden floor repairs are carried out during the floor sanding process the floor will not look at its optimum. A sand and a finish does not mean that you will get a perfect floor. High quality restoration of wood floors will mean that your floor will look at its optimum.

If you have a wooden floor that needs restoration call us now on 07972 312124 for advice and an assessment. Alternatively please email us a picture of your floor for us to view and assess.

Hearth and Concrete Removal

We can remove unused concrete fire hearths and other concrete masses. Reclaimed floor boards are then inserted to blend in with the existing floor. We can also carry out repair work to joists which is needed if a wooden floor is sloping or dipping.

Bamboo Floors

We are able to fit bamboo floors.

Floor Finishing

Wood Floor Finishes

Finishing wood floors with lacquer or oil is essential in order that the wood floor is protected from dirt and stains. We use only professional wood floor finishes from companies such as Bona, Granwax, Ronseal, Osmo and Jenkins to ensure that you have a high quality hardwood floor finish.

If you want your floor darker than its natural colour a stain will need to be applied in between sanding and varnishing the floor.

The most used wooden floor finishes today are Lacquer and Oil.
The most popular wooden floor finish is lacquer (also called Varnish) as it is hardwearing and easy to maintain. To make your wood floor finish as hard wearing as possible, we always choose a 2 pack lacquer which is used in conjunction with a hardener for extra protection.
All the lacquers we use are water based.

Oils are sometimes preferred for finishing wood floors if you are looking for a more rustic, natural look or although oiled floors do require more maintenance.

Lacquer vs Oil

Lacquer РThis hardwood floor finish forms a skin on the surface of floor, more hardwearing than Oil, easy to maintain, available in Satin, Matt or Gloss.

Oil РOil soaks into the surface of the floor, easier to repair a scratch as you can spot repair, may need re oiling every 1-2 yrs depending on wear/sunlight, creates a matt finish.

Eco Friendly & Non Toxic Wood Finishes

There is also more interest in products that are non-toxic. We suggest our clients choose Ecos lacquer for finishing wooden floors sympathetically to the environment.
